Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church is celebrating the 26th Annual Marietta Greek Festival. Known as “Cobb County’s Most Delicious Festival!” this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever. It is a three-day celebration that has mass appeal and breaks attendance records almost every year. The extravaganza features a live Greek band playing traditional Greek songs while Hellenic dance troupes perform floor shows all weekend. Patrons will be seated in the South’s only authentic Greek Amphitheater. The breathtaking Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church will open its sanctuary and chapel doors for guided tours revealing the intricate iconography and giving visitors a glimpse into the ancient Christian church of Byzantium. The biggest draw though is the endless supply of the delicious homemade Greek dishes and pastries. There is plenty of convenient free parking with continuous free shuttles picking up eager festival goers and delivering them right to the entrance of the festival. When visitors are ready to depart, the same shuttles will transport them back to their vehicles. Admission is only $4 and children 12 and under are free. Speaking of the kids, there will be a special play area for children where there will be games, activities, and crafts to entertain them. Niko’s Taverna offers the opportunity to sample Greek wines, beers, and liqueurs while indulging in mouthwatering appetizers. In the Agora (Marketplace), there will be a multitude of vendors displaying jewelry, clothing, souvenirs, etc., with a Mediterranean flavor to satisfy those who enjoy shopping.
The festival is held on the church grounds located at 3431 Trickum Road in Marietta / East Cobb. The Marietta Greek Festival will open on Friday, May 13th at 3pm until 11pm (FREE admission from 3 to 5pm) and will continue on Saturday from 10am to 11pm and finally on Sunday from 11am to 6pm.
