The annual “Heavenly Hounds” 100-mile relay is this Saturday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m., at the Pope High School Track, 3001 Hembree Road in Marietta / East Cobb. This Run benefits “Dolly Strong” in honor of Pope High School’s beloved teacher/coach Christy “Dolly” Dahlhauser and the Pope High School Ladies Lacrosse Program. The goal is to raise $20,000.
This charity run is the second annual “Heavenly Hounds” – 100-Mile Relay that will equally benefit both “Dolly Strong” and the Pope High School Ladies Lacrosse program. Proceeds raised will be split evenly between the two 501C-3 programs.
The “Dolly Strong” charity was chosen because the charity is based here in East Cobb and it has affected the Pope community. Mrs. Dahlhauser (“Dolly”) taught chemistry and coached cross country at Pope. She had been diagnosed with GBM and passed away late last year. Jeff Robertson – Mrs. Dahlhauser’s husband – created “Dolly Strong” in her memory. The foundation will provide a $2,500/year scholarship to a Pope student and they will fund “bucket list” memories for those diagnosed with GBM who have 14 months to live.
Participants are asked to raise a minimum of $200 for high school Laxers and $25 for Pope Jr. Laxers by asking friends, family and members in our community to donate. Donations can be made by cash, check or online through the Pope High School Ladies Lacrosse website at www.popeladieslacrosse.com. Please indicate the player you are making an online donation towards, in order for her to receive credit. Top fundraisers will receive Lacrosse “swag” for their efforts and ALL participants will receive a complimentary Relay T-Shirt. All donations are tax deductible.
RELAY EVENT: 20+ Relay Teams. Each team will be comprised of Pope Jr. and High School Lax players. Each participant will run a minimum of 1 mile.
REGISTRATION:
Visit the PHS Ladies Lacrosse website and type “Pope Ladies Lacrosse” under Find a Team – click on “Heavenly Hounds 100-Mile Relay”. The last day to register is April 15. The last day for donations is April 24. Food and beverages will be available at the day of the event for purchase.
