Even after all the holiday packages have been unwrapped there’s still a chance to give one last present to the earth by donating your live Christmas tree to a countywide recycling program that will chip it into a life-giving, water-saving, sweet-smelling layer of mulch. Recycling trees creates mulch, fuel, wildlife habitats and other useful material. You can help “Keep Cobb Beautiful,” by recycling your old tree after the holiday season. Keep Cobb Beautiful is sponsoring free recycling drop-offs. Keep Cobb Beautiful is inviting everyone to “Bring One for the Chipper,” and recycle your Christmas tree after the holidays. As part of a statewide effort to reuse Christmas trees, Keep Cobb Beautiful is hosting convenient sites where area residents can drop off their trees. No other items will be allowed to be dropped off at sites. Various locations in Cobb County will accept trees from December 25, 2020 until January 9, 2021.

The following East Cobb locations will accept Christmas trees from December 25, 2020 until January 9, 2020:

  • Fullers Park (Lower Field) 3499 Robinson Road, Marietta 30064
  • Home Depot 3605 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta 30066
  • Home Depot 4101 Roswell Road NE, Marietta 30062.

Before dropping off your tree, remove all non-organic objects such as lights, wire, tinsel, ornaments and nails. Foreign objects can contaminate the mulch and ruin the chipper. Flocked trees cannot be recycled and must be disposed of as garbage. Davey Trees will have free mulch available to citizens. For more information and/or to request a mulch request form, email keepcobbbeautiful@cobbcounty.org.
