When it comes to environmental awareness and giving, one day is not enough for Atlanta-based Van Michael Salon. For the second year, Van Michael Salon has partnered with the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, a local environmental advocacy organization, to expand their Earth Day celebration to the entire month of April. With a fundraising goal of $15,000, all five Atlanta-area salons will participate in localized events and fundraising efforts to benefit the organization’s water sanitation and conservation initiatives.

Van Michael Salon and our local partners have come together year-after-year to recognize the importance of clean water – both globally and in our back yard. With the Chattahoochee River serving as the primary drinking water source for 3.5 million people, we are thrilled to team up with the organization again this year to bring awareness to our local cause.”

Van Michael Salon will offer the following in-salon fundraising efforts in support of Earth Month that will directly benefit the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper.

· Stress-Fix™ Saturdays Featuring Aveda’s Newest Stress-Fix™ Body Lotion – All salon locations will offer clients an optional Stress-Fix™ body lotion hand massage with their Saturday service in exchange for a donation. The Stress-Fix™ body lotion is a clinically proven aromatherapy treatment designed to reduce signs of stress.

· Earth Month Blooming Buds – Van Michael Salon’s talented florist James Hurley of James Hurley Floral Designs has partnered with the salons to provide beautiful and delicate bud vases available for purchase for $10 with proceeds benefiting Earth Month.

· Van Michael Salon Ultimate Prize Baskets – Each of the five locations will raffle off three baskets with services and products specific to a cut, color or make up service. Raffle tickets are available for purchase for $5/ticket throughout the month.

· Van Michael ‘Likes’ Earth Day – On Earth Day, Sunday, April 22nd, Van Michael Salon will donate $1 to the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper fund for each ‘like’ on their Facebook Earth Day post. www.facebook.com/vmsalon.

· Aveda’s Light the Way Soy Wax Candle – Proceeds from the sale of Aveda’s Light the Way soy wax candle, exclusively sold during Earth Month, will go toward the brand’s $4.5million global fundraising goal benefiting the Global Greengrants Fund.
