St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church will celebrate the gift of a new Grand Piano with a service of Choral Evensong at 5pm on Sunday, November 4th.
Evensong is the traditional service of Evening Prayer – prayers said at the end of each day – with the addition of choral musical elements. The service will feature music by Organist Dr. Jana Williams, St. Catherine’s Chancel Choir and special musicians. The service will last about 60-minutes and a reception will follow the service.
The public is welcome and there is no charge for admission. This service marks the beginning of the 2012-2013 Concert Series and, hopefully, a tradition for many years to come. The concerts for the inaugural season include: December 2 – Contemporary Advent Lessons and Carols presented by St. Catherine’s Chancel Choir, January 22 – Joint Concert by the Georgia State University Concert Choir and Walton High School A Cappella Choir, March 23 – Coro Vocati presents their spring program, “The Sacred and the Profane, Part II” and May 4 – Atlanta Sacred Chorale at St. Catherine’s.
St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church is a 50-year-old congregation in East Cobb and offers three morning worship services each Sunday, at 7:30, 8:45 and 11:15am, with Holy Communion served at each service. The church is located at 571 Holt Road, Marietta, GA, 30068. All are welcome.
