Last year, Dr. Michael Hinojosa was named superintendent of the Cobb County School District, the nation’s 25th largest school
district and the second largest in Georgia. Cobb County’s school system is among the largest in the United States and the second largest in Georgia. Approximately 107,000 students are educated in 68 Elementary, 25 Middle and 16 High Schools, plus 2 Special Education Centers, 1 Adult Education Center and 1 ESOL Center. All schools are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Dr. Hinojosa’s career in public education, from teacher and coach to superintendent of six school systems, spans more than three decades. Dr. Hinojosa holds a doctorate in education from the University of Texas at Austin. His annual salary is $237,000.
He and his wife Kitty have two sons, one attending Harvard University and another attending Princeton University. He has a son from a previous marriage who graduated from Texas Tech University.
