Metro Atlantans can make their smart phones waterSmart – for free, courtesy of a new app now available from Cobb County Water System. Called “Sprinkler Times,” the web-based program uses landscape information and historical weather data to calculate the most waterSmart irrigation schedule. The iPhone, iPad, and Android-compatible app helps homeowners by sending a reminder to adjust their watering times monthly and allows them to adjust the schedule up or down by increments of 10%. The app is estimated to save a family of four more than 3,600 gallons of water annually – and to cut their water bills – by monitoring and optimizing water consumption.
To access the program, visit sprinklertimes.com from a computer or tablet and enter the promotion code: cobbh2o at the bottom of the homepage. Once customized through the web-based program, the app can be downloaded on a mobile device. The app costs $5.99 after the first 550 free downloads.
