The Cobb County School District announces Donna Lowry will serve as the Director of Communications and Lisa A. Watson as Assistant Director of Communications.

Both Ms. Lowry and Ms. Watson bring a wealth of education knowledge and experience to their positions.

Ms. Lowry joins the Cobb County School District after 29 years at WXIA-TV, 11Alive News, where the station billed her as “the state’s only full-time Education Reporter.” In addition to covering education news, she created and produced the Emmy Award-winning Class Act segments honoring metro Atlanta teachers, as well as Class Notes, which offered a daily glimpse into classrooms. Ms. Lowry has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Mass Communications/ Administration and Management from Chatham University and a Masters of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to share stories of academic excellence, education innovation and everyday heroes in Cobb County Schools,” said Lowry.

Ms. Watson expands her leadership role within the Cobb County School District after 19 years as an educator.  She served as the Chair for the Career and Technology Departments at South Cobb High School and Campbell High School. She established and built the award-winning Broadcast and Video Production Program at South Cobb High and successfully repeated that model at Campbell High. She also worked early in her career as a producer at Channel 46 News in Atlanta and as an account executive at Mazie Hale Public Relations. Ms. Watson has a Bachelors of Arts in Communications from Georgia State University and Georgia Teaching Certification in Mass Communications.
