David Hong Honored by Cobb County Board of Commissioners

On April 22, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners presented a proclamation to East Cobb resident David Hong honoring his contributions to our community.

Here is that Proclamation:

WHEREAS: David Hong epitomizes his belief that “more people should get active in civic affairs and take pride in their  community.” He has been an exceptional community advocate, has helped solve zoning issues since 1979 and was instrumental in starting the East Cobb Civic Association in 1982; and WHEREAS: Hong has made many contributions to our community, including serving on the Comprehensive Land Use Advisory Board, One Percent Sales Tax Citizen Oversight Committee, Alternate Funding Committee, Open Space Community Zoning District Advisory Committee, Livable Communities Coalition and the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Citizen Advisory Committee; and

WHEREAS: Along with being a founder of the East Cobb Civic Association, Hong has also held every position within the  organization. He currently serves as second vice president, head of the transportation committee and on the zoning and variance committee. He also serves on the Transit Advisory Board and the 2011 Johnson Ferry Urban Design Plan steering committee; and

WHEREAS: Hong has made a lasting contribution to the metro Atlanta area by also serving on the Atlanta Regional Commission board and various committees, including the Livable Centers Initiative, Land Use Coordinating Committee, Regional  Development Plan and Fifty Forward Steering Committee; so

THEREFORE: We, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners do hereby extend our heartfelt thanks to David Hong for all the time, work and effort he has put into helping improve our community. The pride and dedication he has shown through his words and  actions are exemplary examples of doing his civic duty.
