The MJCCA’s Jerry’s Habima Theatre, Georgia’s only theatrical company featuring actors with disabilities along with professional actors from the community, returns for its 29th year with a full-scale musical production of Mamma Mia!
“Jerry’s Habima Theatre is one of the most beloved and enduring programs at the MJCCA. The cast and crew dedicate countless hours learning elaborate choreography, dialogue, and show music. It’s so wonderful to be able to present their hard work to the community after two long years,” said Gayle Seigel, committee chairperson for the MJCCA’s Blonder Family Department for Special Needs.
The family-friendly show is produced under the auspices of the MJCCA’s Blonder Family Department for Special Needs and the MJCCA’s Arts + Authors department. All performances are held at the MJCCA’s beautiful Morris & Rae Frank Theatre, 5342 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody, and are presented each year to sell-out audiences and much acclaim.
In recent years, Jerry’s Habima Theatre has been the recipient of several prestigious honors, including the Spirit of Suzi Bass Award, as well a four-time recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Challenge America Grant. Mamma Mia! was originally scheduled for March 2020 but was sidelined due to the pandemic. Most of the 2020 cast and crew have returned and are reprising their original roles.
About Mamma Mia!
Mamma Mia…here we go again! This family-friendly production uses ABBA’s greatest hits to tell the hilarious story of a young woman’s search for her birth father. This sunny and funny tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter’s quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago. The storytelling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter, and friendship, creating an unforgettable show with nonstop laughs and explosive dance numbers.
