The Kennesaw State University Department of Theatre and Performance Studies presents “Run Away With Me: Kerrigan & Lowdermilk in Concert” September 21-22 at 8 pm in the Stillwell Theater. The performances are coordinated by Associate Professor Dean Adams and are the third production of the department’s 2012-2013 season.

The musical theatre duo of Kait Kerrigan (lyrics) and Brian Lowdermilk (music) have received wide acclaim for their original musicals and adaptations since making their off-Broadway debut in 2006. Their first album, “Our First Mistake,” was released in 2011 and features the hit “Run Away with Me.”

“The joy that Kerrigan and Lowdermilk bring to musical theatre is infectious,” Adams says. “Beyond simply hearing the wonderful music of this talented team, the audience will get to experience the journey that artists take when creating a song, a play or a musical.”

During their performance at KSU, Kerrigan and Lowdermilk will perform a number of their most popular songs, including fan favorites “Freedom” and “Run Away With Me.” Several KSU students will also have the opportunity to perform alongside the duo. “KSU musical theatre students and local Atlanta professionals will be singing some of Kerrigan and Lowdermilk’s solos and duets,” explains Adams. “We are also putting together a 6-piece instrumental ensemble to accompany the singers, so it should be a thrilling musical evening.”

While at KSU, Kerrigan and Lowdermilk will also be offering master classes for theatre students on the afternoons before their performances. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to work with rising young New York songwriters,” Adams says. “Our mission at the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies is to help develop new work and connect our students with working professionals, and this event is a great example of that.”

Tickets for the concert are $20. Discounts are available for KSU personnel, seniors, military and groups. For more information, visit the KSU box office online or call 770-423-6650.
