On Sunday February 5, from 9:30-11:30am, the Brotherhood of Temple Kol Emeth is sponsoring a free lecture featuring Joe Kirby, the author of “The Lockheed Plant.” The lecture will take place in the Temple Kol Emeth Social Hall, 1415 Old Canton Road, Marietta, 30064.
“The Lockheed Plant” book uses more than 200 photographs, many of them unseen for a half century, to tell the story of the massive Lockheed Martin aircraft plant in Marietta. It’s a follow-up to Kirby’s earlier book, “The Bell Bomber Plant,” which told the story of that plant’s construction and operation during World War II, during which 668 B-29 Superfortress bombers identical to those that dropped the A-Bombs on Japan were assembled in Marietta.
Author, Joe Kirby, is the editorial page editor for the Marietta Daily Journal. Before the presentation, breakfast will be served. Joe will hold a book signing after the presentation. His books will be available for $22 each, cash or check only.
To attend, RSVP at http://thelockheedplant.eventbrite.com.
