Since Thursday, all pit bulls and pit-bull mixes will be available for adoption for a reduced rate of $60 at Cobb County’s animal shelter. Adoptions include vaccines for rabies, deworming, spay/neuter and heartworm check, as well as micro-chipping.

Cobb County Animal Control was established in 1971. As part of Cobb’s Department of Public Safety, all of the county is served, protecting the residents and animals of Cobb.

Cobb County Animal Control Unit enforces state laws and county ordinances pertaining to animal control and management; educates the community on responsible pet ownership and wildlife care; and provides housing and care for homeless animals, while coordinating their adoptions when possible and humane euthanization when adoptions are not possible.
