Suzy Bogguss to perform in Starlight concert‏

On Sunday, July 29, The Kennesaw State University College of the Arts invites audiences to enjoy the music of Grammy and Country Music Award-winning artist Suzy Bogguss as part of the 2012Starlight Summer Concert Series. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Legacy Gazebo Amphitheater on campus.

With a distinctive style, Bogguss’ voice has been described as “pristine” and emotionally charged. For this performance, audiences can expect nothing less as Bogguss performs songs from her recently released album “American Folk Songbook.” This new album features her take on some famous traditional folk melodies and ”a modern touch of classic Americana,” according to Great American Country. Bogguss will perform selections from this album along with a sprinkling of hits from her previous records.

Bogguss first moved to Nashville in 1985 to pursue her dream of making a record. That dream came true with her first recording contract with Capitol Records and her first album in 1989. In her years as a singer/songwriter, she has collaborated with some of Nashville’s biggest names in music, including Chet Atkins, Steve Dorff and Matraca Berg.

“Suzy’s career highlights include heaps of awards, numerous albums and marquee performance appearances,” says David Daly, director of the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center. “It is always a treat to hear a Grammy award-winning artist perform, and a Sunday evening at the Gazebo will be the perfect backdrop for this music,” says Daly.

Admission at the Legacy Gazebo Amphitheater opens at 6 p.m. General admission tickets are $8 and table reservations for six are $75. Table reservations must be made at least one week in advance. For more information, including directions and parking, visit Starlight.

The next Starlight concert will be Sunday, August 5, featuring the KSU Faculty Jazz Parliament.
