CERT Course Offered

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course is a 20-hour program that trains people to be better prepared for response to emergency situations in their communities. When emergencies happen, CERT  members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. CERT members can also help with nonemergency projects that help improve the safety of the community. CERT Classes will be held at the Cobb County Emergency Operations Center which is at 140 North Marietta Parkway, Marietta, 30060. The schedule for the course will be:

  • Saturday, January 19th: 9am-5pm
  • Saturday, January 26th: 9am-5pm
  • Saturday, February 2nd: 9am-5pm

You must attend all sessions listed in order to complete the program. Cobb Emergency Response Team (CERT) Initial Training Class, sponsored by the Cobb County emergency Management Agency, provides an opportunity for Cobb County citizens to gain knowledge about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their areas and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.  To participate, you must be at least 16 years of age and either live, work, or worship in Cobb County. Classes are free.  Advance registration required by Monday, August 27, 2012.  Classes will be held at the Cobb Emergency Management Agency, 140 North Marietta Parkway, Marietta.

Class schedule is:

Tuesday, September 4: 6pm-9pm

Thursday, September 6: 6pm-9pm

Tuesday, September 11: 6pm-9pm

Thursday, September 13: 6pm-9pm

Tuesday, September 18: 6pm-9pm

Thursday, September 20: 6pm-9pm

Tuesday, September 25: 6pm-9pm
