Cobb Landmarks and Historical Society’s Annual Membership Meeting will be held this Thursday, January 24, 2013, 7pm, at The Whitlock Inn, 57 Whitlock Avenue SW and The Anderson House, 65 Whitlock Avenue SW.

During the business meeting at The Whitlock Inn, members will report on the activities of the society over the past year and on plans for 2013. Members of the board will be elected for the 2013-2016 term and the annual achievement awards will be presented to members of the community who have made significant contributions to historic preservation. After the business meeting at the Whitlock Inn, the evening will progress next door to the Anderson House, CLHS headquarters, to enjoy food and fellowship. It’s a great opportunity to see your friends in the preservation community and to make new friends who share your commitment to preserving, protecting, and promoting our local historic heritage.

From July 24-27, join Cobb Landmarks and Historical Society for their “Guess Who’s Coming…and Staying for Lunch?” series celebrating important local landmarks. Tours are:

Tuesday July 24, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Meet at the Root House Museum at 9 a.m. Tour the Root House, the Marietta Museum of History and the Gone With the Wind Museum and enjoy a gourmet southern-style lunch in the Root House garden. Then take a walking tour to the Marietta Museum of Art for a lecture on
architecture in Marietta.

Wednesday July 25, 8 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Meet at the KSU Center on Busbee Parkway at 8 a.m. and climb on the bus. Tour the Power Cabin and Hyde Farm and picnic at the lake.

Thursday July 26, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
Meet at the KSU Center on Busbee Parkway for another bus ride. Tour Historic Acworth, the Rosenwald School, Mt. Bethel AME, and enjoy great food from Doug’s.

The Cobb Landmarks & Historical Society has a pair of spring events right around the corner.

Its annual Heirloom Plant Sale will be at the Root House April 29 and 30. And a “Lunch and Learn” with WSB’s Walter Reeves will be at noon on April 30 at St. James Episcopal Church.
