Big Green Egg Grill Celebration at Cook’s Warehouse

Big Green Egg Smoking - Credit Danny Kim

It’s a grill, it’s a smoker, it’s an oven and it’s the most versatile cooker ever. And local: Big Green Egg is based in Tucker, GA. The East Cobb store of The Cook’s Warehouse (www.cookswarehouse.com) will hold a Big Green Egg grill celebration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 29.

There will be grilling demonstrations while Chef and the Fatman record their James Beard-nominated radio show to help celebrate this top-of-the-line ultimate grill. Whole Foods Market is donating Brasstown Beef and Thompson Farms Pork to cook on the Egg as well as two $25 gift cards to be included in the giveaways.

Special appearance, 12 to 2 p.m.: Jessie Lysiak, from Social Circle, GA, and on the current season of MasterChef, will be part of the Chef and the Fatman show. No doubt she’ll be cooking something on an Egg and pleased to have a meet’n’greet with fans of the show.

Springer Mountain Farms will be on site with its chicken, low-stress, humanely grown birds that are steroid-, hormone- and antibiotic-free. Money-saving coupons will be given to the public for Springer Mountain products.

The Big Green Egg celebration will include giveaways and special pricing on cookware inside the store.

Widely acclaimed as the original American-designed ceramic cooker, the Big Green Egg was derived from an ancient clay cooking device known as a “kamado.” Originally a clay vessel with a lid, today’s Egg is a modern ceramic marvel known for producing amazing culinary results for novice and experts alike for more than 30 years.

The Cook’s Warehouse is located in Merchant’s Walk shopping  enter next to Whole Foods, 1311 Johnson Ferry Road, Suite 568, Marietta 30068. More info: 770-565-8005 or www.cookswarehouse.com.

Celebrate with some shopping at The Holiday Walk

Holiday Walk 2012

Head out to the Walk for some holiday cheer this Thursday! Merchant’s Walk and its retailers will host the second annual Holiday Walk  on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 6-9.  The annual Holiday tree lighting and celebration will feature live Holiday tunes performed by the Pope High School Band and the Walton High School Women’s Choral Ensemble, as well as an appearance by Jolly St. Nick himself. Santa will light the tree for the season and be on hand for photos with the kids (or just the young at heart!).

To express gratitude to the community for their continued support of Merchant’s Walk and its shops, guests will enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and gift bags filled with Holiday discounts and giveaways.  Merchant’s Walk retailers will also provide complimentary refreshments and in-store savings exclusive to Holiday Walk guests.

The live 25′ Fraser Fir will be adorned with eco-friendly lighting as well as ornaments created and donated by the art departments of some neighboring Cobb County schools.  Inspired by the theme “Peace on Earth,” students from Dickerson Middle, Dodgen Middle, Mt. Bethel Elementary, Sope Creek Elementary, Timber Ridge Elementary, Walton High, Wheeler High and The Wood Acres School were asked to use their imaginations and artistic skills to create an ornament as a representation of their school pride.

The Holiday Walk starts at 6pm with seasonal performances by the Pope High School band and the Walton Women’s Choral Ensemble.  Santa will make his appearance in time to light the tree at 6:45, and stay for photos and any special gift requests from the kids.
