Gardeners’ Night Out: Adaptive Gardening at Mountain View Library

Adaptive Gardening – How to Keep Gardening on Your Lifetime Can-Do List is the topic for the Gardeners’ Night Out program at Mountain View Regional Library on Tuesday, November 11, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Presented by the Master Gardener Volunteers of Cobb County, the program will be led by former HGTV host Joe Washington. The program is free; registration is requested.

Washington, a former sports anchor for WXIA-TV, will speak on his “one-stop shop” of special tools, techniques and tips for adapting your environment for gardening over a lifetime. The Adaptive Gardening program is geared toward seniors and others with arthritis, back problems and other health challenges, people with disabilities and caregivers. He will give away a free tool at the end of the program.

Mountain View Regional Library – Toddlers Story Time.  Toddlers are introduced to pre-literacy skills through the reading of short stories and music. This program is for children between the ages of 24 to 36 months and their parent or caregiver. Story times for other ages also offered – see website for schedule.

Critters of the Creeks – Kids invited to hands-on experience

The Mountain View Regional Library will present a special program on April 27: Critters of the Creeks.

Michael Kahle of the Cobb County Water System will present a program about how important it is to protect frogs, insects, and the fish that live in the creeks. There will be hands-on activities and stories shared.

This is a family program suitable for all ages and no registration is required.

New Tweens Book Group at Mountain View

The Mountain View Regional Library is starting a new book group for tweens, ages 8 to 12. Chapter Champs will meet the last Tuesday of the month from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Reader’s Theater: Teens will exercise their creativity at the Mountain View Regional Library as they learn how to create scripts and deliver readings from their collaboration with Chattahoochee Technical College instructor Jennifer Staton and her literature class. School’s out! Watch The Incredibles at Mountain View Library today

On December 27 at 1pm, Mountain View Regional Library will have a screening of The Incredibles rated PG, as part of its School’s Out! Movies @ the Library series in the Children’s Programming room. Yoga Basics at Mountain View Regional Library

Have you ever wondered what people do in a Yoga class or wondered if you could benefit from Yoga? On Saturday, June 16, from 2-3pm, Ann Olsen, a certified instructor, will explain the basics of Yoga and how you could benefit from incorporating yoga into your exercise regime. She will also lead participants in some light practice, so please wear comfortable clothing. Partipants should be ages 16 and older. An Introduction to Fly Fishing with Willie Perry

On Saturday, June 9th, Mountain View Regional Library will present An Introduction to Fly Fishing for Teens and Adults with instructor Willie Perry from the Fly Box Outfitters in Kennesaw. This is a great opportunity to learn the basics of casting.

Fly fishing can be a fantastic family sport. This event will take place outside weather permitting, so dress accordingly. A heavy rain will require a move indoors for an informative seminar on fly fishing for beginners. If you have a rod feel free to bring it with you.
