East Cobbers looking for yoga classes with work-friendly hours and an upbeat environment now have a new option: Bring It OM Power Yoga, coming soon to the corner of Johnson Ferry and Shallowford Roads.

Owner Karen Patton is a self-proclaimed “California Girl”, having lived most of her life in Los Angeles before moving to East Cobb in 2012 with her daughters Frankie, 15, and Sasha, 13. “I was surprised at what a friendly and supportive community this is,” says Karen, telling how she found a heap of welcome baskets on her front porch shortly after arriving in her new neighborhood. “I wanted to give little gift baskets to the neighbors introducing myself, but they beat me to it!” Karen claims that East Cobb residents are the nicest people she has ever met, and for that reason she chose to remain here after her recent divorce.

Bring it OM Power Yoga Opens Soon 1A longtime yoga devotee, Karen found herself turning to the practice for spiritual healing during that difficult period. In the process, it became clear that she had something to offer to the community she had grown to love. “I want to make the benefits of yoga accessible to everyone,” she explains. She is quick to assure that no one should feel intimidated, no matter what their level: “There is no judgment, I just want my clients to have fun and have a good workout,” she says.

With a background in wholesale and retail apparel – she worked for Tommy Hilfiger, The Gap, and Banana Republic in LA – Karen has the business know-how to complement her passion for the art of yoga. She has assembled a staff of thirteen instructors to teach a variety of classes ranging from more structured methods such as kundalini and restorative, to heated and non-heated sessions with fun names like Hot Southern Sundays and Happy Power Hour. There will be offerings for kids and teens, monthly theme nights like Beers & Bros, to appeal to the male clientele, and Vodka Vinyasa for the ladies. Karen’s mission, above all, is to manage a happy staff, which will result in positive vibes and an enjoyable experience that keeps clients coming back.

Karen also intends to keep her clients happy with extended hours to accommodate busy schedules – you can easily fit in a class before or after work. Two full bathrooms with showers are provided in the 1500 square foot studio that has room for up to forty yoga mats as well as a retail space selling yoga products, clothing, trendy accessories and gifts.

A grand opening scheduled for the weekend of August 25 will include food and drinks, free introductory classes, giveaways, and membership discounts. The studio is located in the Shallowford Falls shopping center at 3162 Johnson Ferry Road in Marietta/East Cobb. Bring it OM Power Yoga will be open: Monday-Thursday: 5:45am-8:45pm; Friday: 5:45am-6:30pm; Saturday: 8am-4pm; Sunday: 8:30am-6:30pm. For more information, visit www.bringitompoweryoga.com.
