Cobb County Animal Control (CCAC) will host their fourth annual ART-Barks and Purrs on Saturday, June 17 from 10am-4pm. The event is part of CCAC’s continuing efforts to find forever homes for the homeless animals of Cobb County through offering a fun arts and crafts event.

The ART-Barks and Purrs festival was designed to help bring people to the Shelter that might not have ever stopped in. “We have so many wonderful animals here and they all deserve a home and a second chance”, said Billy Mayfield, Facility Operations Manager. “Our first event was in 2012 so this is our sixth year for the festival and every year it is more successful thanks to the creative, talented vendors who help support the Shelters’ efforts to find homes for the dogs and cats and the dedication and hard work of the staff and volunteers. If one has never been to our Shelter, they should come check us out. We’re not your old-school ‘dog pound’. Our shelter is a bright, clean, hopeful place. Staff and volunteers, along with local rescue groups, all work together to find new homes for these animals.”

It will be held on the grounds of the Shelter, located at 1060 Al Bishop Drive in Marietta and features over 30 local arts and crafts vendors that have animal related art in their line. Many of the returning vendors said they were very excited to participate in the event once again to help support the homeless animals at the Cobb County Shelter.

Besides the vendors, the event includes a great silent auction, special adoption rates, and food. This is a FREE, fun, family event with plenty of parking available. Bring an unopened, unexpired pet food item to receive a free gift.
