On June 2, 2010, the Governor of Georgia signed into law the Georgia Transportation Investment Act (TIA 2010). The Act creates twelve regions throughout the State of Georgia and gives each the opportunity to collect funding for transportation projects by increasing local sales tax rates.

Cobb County is in the Atlanta region along with nine other counties and will have the opportunity in summer of 2012 to vote on a pre-identified list of projects to be funded within a 10 year period of tax collection. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is currently soliciting project nominations from local jurisdictions statewide to be considered for the referendum. Cobb DOT has been coordinating with its municipalities as well as the Town Center and Cumberland CIDs to compile a comprehensive list of transportation projects, for consideration and potential inclusion in the referendum.

Learn more about the Georgia Transportation Investment Act (TIA 2010) at a public open house on Monday, March 21, regarding the Draft Transportation Projects List to submit for potential inclusion in the Regional Sales Tax vote in Summer 2012.

No formal presentation will be planned, but Representatives from Cobb County, its municipalities and CIDs will be available. The open house will be from 3pm to 8pm in the Board of Commissioners Meeting Room, 100 Cherokee Street, 2nd Floor Board Room, Marietta, GA.
