The following high schools are located in East Cobb: Kell High School, Lassiter High School, Pope High School, Sprayberry High School, Walton High School, and Wheeler High School. The EAST COBBER editorial staff researched the Ed-SPLOST V Notebook available on the Cobb County School District website, www.cobbk12.org/splost.
To help East Cobbers to get a sense on how their Ed-SPLOST V dollars will be spent, the EAST COBBER staff has listed below approved projects for each high school in East Cobb. Items listed are in no particular order.
FACILITY SUMMARY OF APPROVED PROJECTS (Kell, Lassiter, Pope, Sprayberry, Walton, Wheeler):
- Centralized Video System-Enhance the district’s coaxial network;
- District Network Enhancement/Maintenance-Maintainthe district network;
- District Phone System Enhancement/Replacement-Replace and maintain the district’s telephony and network equipment
- District Servers Replacement-Replace school servers;
- Electrical-Lighting-Interior-High Bay-Replace existing gymnasium light fixtures with high bay LED fixtures;
- Growth, Replacement, & Maintenance of Fine Arts Instruments and Equipment-Musical instruments, digital music technologies, kilns, and visual arts equipment;
- Learning Management System-Common digital platform for students, teachers, school leaders, and parents to access learning resources, content, & learning supports;
- Learning Resources-Publisher produced and locally developed content to align with the instructional and learning needs of teachers and students as it aligns with the Cobb Teaching and Learning standards;
- Network Access Control-Provide network security;
- Obsolete Audio Visual Equipment Enhancement/Replacement-Classrooms-Replace and maintain audio visual equipment for classrooms;
- Obsolete Computing Device Replacement-Teachers & Staff-Replacement of computing devices for teachers;
- Obsolete Interactive Classroom Devices Enhancement/Replacement-Replace and maintain interactive devices in classroom;
- Obsolete Print/Copy/Duplicate Solution-Replacement/Maintenance-Replace and maintain duplication equipment;
- School Security Improvements-Exterior-CCSD facilities need to be accessible to many people during and after normal hours. Increased security needs require that staff members be confident that the doors, windows, and locks can completely control access to each facility. This program will provide controlled access to only authorized personnel, identify any person or groups in the building when they enter as well as numerous other features;
- School Security Improvements-Interior-Provide security modifications and upgrades for schools by improving interior accessibility as well as strengthened infrastructure where appropriate. Such improvements will provide a greater level of safety and enhance the security within the school facilities.
- Sitework – Athletic & Recreational Surfacing-Artificial Turf- Replace artificial turf on football field.
FOR LASSITER HIGH SCHOOL:
- Finishes-Flooring-VET & Carpeting-Replace flooring;
- Mechanical-HVAC-Replace HVAC in building 5020;
- Renovation-HS-Renovate existing theater.
FOR POPE HIGH SCHOOL:
- Addition-Concession/Toilets Demolish-Existing toilet rooms and concession building at football stadium and build new.
FOR SPRAYBERRY HIGH SCHOOL:
- Addition-HIGH SCHOOL Gymnasium-Addition of new gymnasium;
- Addition-Site Elements Relocation-Relocation of existing underground utilities.
FOR WALTON HIGH SCHOOL:
- Addition-Concession/Toilets-Construct softball field house & toilet/concession/scorekeep building; Sitework-Athletic Fields-Site development for and construction of new softball field and tennis courts, & athletic amenities, including parking.
FOR WHEELER HIGH SCHOOL:
- Addition-HS-(Less than 20,000 GSF) Construct softball toilet/ concession/scorekeeper building equipment;
- Renovation-HS-Renovate existing classrooms to include STEM classrooms; Renovate existing magnet building for standard classrooms;
- Sitework-Softball Field-Relocate softball field; includes concessions/toilet/scorekeepers building.
