Step into Dermatology Consultants’ new location in the Northside East Cobb Medical Center, and you will know why Dr. Myles Jerdan chose this practice to re-establish his presence as an East Cobb dermatologist. With an aesthetically inviting office and the best dermatological care around, Dermatology Consultants proves to be just the right move for this seasoned doctor.

After practicing dermatology in the area since 1988, Dr. Jerdan is happy to be joining Dermatology Consultants to trade places with his friend, Dr. Richard Detlefs, who was a long-time dermatologist at Dermatology Consultants. “I missed seeing patients after a brief hiatus, and he was ready to retire,” says Dr. Jerdan. “It worked well for both of us. I am pleased to provide his patients and others with experienced dermatology care at the wonderful new East Cobb office.”

Dr. Jerdan brings with him quite a résumé. He is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist. As a dermatologist he has extensive training and knowledge of skin, hair, and nail disease and treats conditions that affect those areas. His further training as a dermatopathologist provides him with unique experience in managing skin cancer and cutaneous tumors including all types of pigmented lesions, such as melanoma and abnormal moles. Beyond skin cancer, he treats a wide range of inflammatory skin conditions including psoriasis, eczema, other types of dermatitis, and acne. Dr. Jerdan treats all family members from young to old. He is a former director/owner of an independent dermatopathology laboratory. He graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and did extensive postgraduate training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

“Because I was trained to do both dermatology and dermatopathology, I am uniquely trained to correlate clinical and pathologic findings in the management and treatment of more complex skin disorders,” explains Dr. Jerdan. “While I was at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, I was fortunate to work with some of the foremost world experts on melanoma and its precursors, as well as cutaneous cancers and a wide variety of inflammatory conditions.”

On a personal side, Dr. Jerdan lives in East Cobb and is married to Carolyn, school counselor and teacher at Johnson Ferry Christian Academy. They have three grown children who live in the Atlanta area. As a former Big Ten basketball player at Northwestern University, Dr. Jerdan has invested in the community through his sports knowledge and coaching skills. He has coached at Eastside Baseball and East Cobb Baseball as well as managed programs and coached girls’ and boys’ teams in the East Marietta Basketball league. He has also been a basketball coach in the East Cobb Middle School’s basketball program.
