At the Cobb County School Board Meeting on October 27, 2016, the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax V (Ed-SPLOST V) Resolution was approved calling for a Special Election on March 21, 2017. The EAST COBBER editorial staff researched the SPLOST V Notebook available on the Cobb County School District website, www.cobbk12.org. To help East Cobbersmake an informed vote on how their SPLOST V dollars will be spent, the staff has listed the approved projects for every school in East Cobb.   1. Struggling with this one because AstroTurf at high schools is prioritized over replacement of 20 + year old temporary buildings being replaced.

  2. I hear you. Before SPLOST, parents were buying copy paper, toilet paper, etc., at our school. SPLOST helps fund things so other money can be used elsewhere. I see it coming back to the community. Although AstroTurf does seem like a useless expense, sports brings a lot of money to schools as well through concessions, rentals, etc. Sometimes you have to spend money to make more money. There are definitely buildings that need replacement and those will come. Some projects more slowly than others, but without SPLOST, they will never come.

  3. Never vote for a tax increase. Make the politicians do it. It’s too easy to waste our money when we vote to give it away.
