Free Public Piano to be Installed at the East Cobb Park This Saturday

Play Me Again Pianos announced today its newest public piano will open in East Cobb Park, at 3322 Roswell Road, Saturday, July 22nd.  The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting and join in the festivities at 10:00 a.m.

Play Me Again Pianos, a Georgia non-profit charity, is working to install and permanently maintain 88 free public pianos throughout the Atlanta Metropolitan area for the community to play and enjoy.

“Street pianos and public pianos inspire people to connect with each other in ways that were once common, but seem increasingly rare.  By placing our pianos in places like East Cobb Park, we want to nurture that connection into an evolution of our neighborhood’s culture, community and the arts,” said Jason Brett, co-founder of Play Me Again Pianos.

“How amazing for the children who live nearby and play in East Cobb Park to know that they helped to design and paint the public piano in their very own neighborhood,” Brett added. “We are very excited that our park has been selected to receive a piano from Play Me Again Pianos,” said Amy Phillips, President of the Friends for the East Cobb park.  “Our patrons will be able to enjoy a peaceful stroll through our beautiful park while music rings across the grounds.”

Play Me Again Pianos and the Friends for the East Cobb Park will officially unveil the piano at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22nd with a ribbon cutting ceremony, which will feature a performance by a local young pianist.  At the end of the performance, the piano will be open to everyone.

About the Friends for the East Cobb Park

In 1998, a group of individuals associated with the East Cobb Area Council of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce joined together to form the non-profit Friends for the East Cobb Park.  Their unifying vision was to create a passive park that would serve as a community gathering place.

East Cobb Park was dedicated in 2003.  It was an immediate success in the community, and has surpassed both Cobb County’s and the Friends’ greatest expectations for attendance and public satisfaction.  For more information, visit EastCobbPark.org.
