At a special meeting of The Kiwanis Club of Marietta Golden K (MGK) President Jim Walter presented contributions totaling $12,500 to 18 local charities that serve children in Cobb and Cherokee counties. The Sponsored Programs Committee which consists of Chairman Jim Perry and club members Pat Abbott, Ivan Garcia, Bonnie Bonham, Bobbie Gauthier, Ron Deering, Tim McDaniel, Bettie Sleeth and Bill Vermeer met and considered several charities before making final decisions regarding recipients and amounts to be contributed. The 18 chosen charities with their representatives are as follows: Action Ministries, Mark Hellman; Atlanta Child Therapy, Patricia Crawford; Atlanta Ministry with International Students, Lisa Majoro; Bert’s Big Adventure, Sheridan Smith; Boy Scout Troop 444; Camp Twin Lakes, Audrey McMenamy; Cherokee Day Training Center, Heather Daley; Family Promise of Cobb County, Julia Binney; Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Ranch, Mountainview/Chatsworth Campus, Peter Vuong; Good Samaritan Health Center of Cobb County; Goshen Valley Boys Ranch, Evan Ingram; Kate’s Club, Meredith Deen; Mountain Top Boys Home, Gary Stout; MUST Ministries, Greg Elder; Next Step Ministries; Rally Foundation, Maureen Barry; Restore Place, Brian and Suzanne Cairns; Simple Needs Georgia, Brenda Rhodes.
