On Tuesday, June 27 at 7 pm, the East Cobb Library will feature a Conversations event with Sam A. Williams, former president of the Metro Atlanta Chamber. Mr. Williams will discuss how business leaders successfully became engaged in addressing public policy challenges covered in his book, The CEO as Urban Statesman. The June 27th program will be moderated by Dr. Ken Harmon, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Kennesaw State University.

Mr. Williams uses case studies in his book, The CEO as Urban Statesman (Mercer University Press), to support his message that business leaders can use their skills to provide solutions for public policy challenges.

Mr. Williams served as Metro Atlanta Chamber president for 17 years. He was a partner for two decades with Portman Properties, the global architecture and development com-pany. A member of the faculty of the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University, he holds degrees from the Harvard Business School and Georgia Tech.

Dr. Kenneth Harmon, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Kennesaw State University, will serve as moderator for the event. Dr. Harmon is a former dean of KSU’s Coles College of Business.

Cobb County public libraries are presenting hundreds of 2017 Summer Reading Program events focused on the Build a Better World theme for all ages on Architecture, Design, Engineering Construction, and Creativity. The Conversations adult series featuring special guests is based on the Build a Better World theme.
