Thanksgiving break. The holiday long-awaited by every student across the country. For us, it’s a week of rest and relaxation filled with lots of friends and absolutely no school. And of course, Thanksgiving.

Naturally, on the Friday before break, Walton was seriously hyped up. People discussed their plans during all of their classes, struggling, to no avail, to keep their minds on their work and not on the end of the day. The final week of school before the break had been packed with tests, projects, quizzes, and any other grade you could possibly imagine. Everyone was exhausted.

As the bell rang that afternoon, you could feel the spirit of the school suddenly rise. People ran from their classrooms and out the door in a very movie-esque fashion. I hurried to meet my group of friends, as did the rest of the school, so we could get together and celebrate the beginning of Thanksgiving vacation. Teachers were just as cheery, saying goodbye to their students and wishing them a wonderful break. The buses loaded with hundreds of teenagers who seemed like they had never experienced anything greater in their lives. Simply observing the reactions of the school may have been the best way to begin my Thanksgiving break.
