The YWCA of Northwest Georgia will be celebrating the 32nd Anniversary of their Tribute to Women of Achievement on March 24, 2017. Since the inception of this event, they have honored more than 500 women who have demonstrated sustained excellence, exemplary achievement, and leadership in their chosen profession and in the community.
They hope you will aid in their search for the 2017 Woman of the Year. Women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and excellence in their professional and community endeavors and lives and/or works. Women living in Cobb, Cherokee or Paulding counties are eligible to receive this honor.
They are currently accepting nominations for the 2017 Tribute to Women of Achievement Honorees. If you know of a woman who possesses the characteristics mentioned above, please complete the nomination form found on www.facebook.com/ywcanwga. They will then follow up with each nominee to have them complete an application.
Nominations must be received no later than October 31, 2016.
Fifteen Honorees will be selected from all of the nomination forms received. They will be honored and inducted into the YWCA of Northwest Georgia’s Academy of Women Leaders the night of the event. From this group, a Woman of the Year will be selected. The new inductees to the Academy of Women Leaders will be notified of their selection prior to the event, but the Woman of the Year will not be announced until the night of the event. Therefore, they request all Honorees be present the night of the event.
This year’s event will be held at the Cobb Galleria Centre on Friday, March 24, 2017, from 5:30-9 pm Activities for this elegant and fun evening include honoring women, naming the Woman of the Year, presenting the Kathryn Woods Racial Justice Award, Pat Head Dignity Award, dinner, and a silent auction.
A silent auction, “Open Your Hearts and Purses” to Women, will begin at 5:30 pm and will feature a selection of purses and surprise items. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to benefit the YWCA of Northwest Georgia. They hope to have all donation commitments as soon as possible, but must have all auction items in hand by March 6, 2017. The auction donation form can be downloaded from www.ywca.org. The Awards Recognition Dinner begins at 7 pm.
